My marriage ended up with a divorce. Sounds familiar?

As many thousands of others I asked myself a thousand times: Why?! What to do with myself?

For sure, I want to fall in love again. But how would  I avoid another failure?

Being 50+ we’re supposed to know who we really are, and stop hiding under illusions or follow endless stereotypes.

I've decided to be  brave enough to face my real self. Despite a few more kilos and wrinkles I am still an amazingly irresistible person. Fortified by this attitude I've entered the fearful jungle of online dating.

Surprisingly it was a lot of fun!!!

During the next three years I tried all kind of websites, and met with about 90 (this is no exaggeration but documented fact) men. Many of them were wonderful people but not for me.

It was crucial to never give up and not to settle with just a nice caring partner, or to be content with a “friend with benefits” type of a relationship. "Love actually" is impossible to substitute.

Finally I met my Beloved One. Now,  more than 10 years later we are still deeply in love and want to be together to the very end.

 

Why was my search successful? Pure luck? Lottery ticket? No!

I just methodically followed my basic principles.

I’ve lost my beloved husband to terminal illness. The first year after his passing felt like being on a small boat in the middle of a storm. Dealing with the estate and unfriendly relatives, reorganizing finances and taxes, learning to live alone.


I did it. Everyone who has been in this situation knows that the first year is hard.  But for me the second year was even harder. My boat did survive the storm, but now I’m in the middle of the calm ocean with no idea where the shore is and where I should go. All my life I had goals and action plans  to achieve them. Having no plan or goal was very scary. After a few years of miserable loneliness  I was ready to find a new life partner, and decided to enter the unknown world of online dating.  The last  time I dated  was when I was 19, fully offline and in person. There  I was,  55 years old, stepping into a new reality,  and hearing all those tragic stories of lies, manipulation and betrayal.


Luckily for me I have a very organized mind and years of experience as a successful Project Manager, including IT cybersecurity projects. So, I’ve decided to approach my search  as a project applying project management principles and cybersecurity best practices to online dating. This helped me recognize and eliminate dozens of fake profiles and people whose goal was to lure you for their own scheming.  I did meet many good men but unfortunately not “My man”.  After a while I’ve noticed that many men are not looking for a serious relationship but just jumping from one date to another, or content with endless texting.


My next step was to explore dating/matchmaking agencies in Calgary, which promised personal checking of every client and a “stressless journey” to your goal. They were very expensive, requiring an advance payment of at least $2500,  with an average price per match of $250-$1000.  Still, I decided to take a chance with one of them. Unfortunately,  in 12 months the agency was not able to provide a match fully aligned with my criteria.  Their lack of transparency and efficiency added to my frustration.


Therefore, I decided to create a dating agency that really works. “Golden Age Together” is focused on helping  financially secure 50+ Calgarians  to find their life partner, while feeling safe and supported.


One last thing to mention that Irina was my dating mentor from the very beginning of my journey I've got to my happy ending much easier with her support.  So I know firsthand that we have an excellent team with the aim to be the most cost effective dating service  in Calgary.
